Scottish Cheese and Wine Matching
Cheese and wine are two of life's great gastronomic pleasures, and Scotland is home to some of the world's very best. On this evening we'll be exploring a range of delicious, locally produced, artisan cheeses from all around the country and match them up with some classic wines from around the globe. There's such a huge variety of fabulous cheeses to be found: from the classic island cheddars of Arran and Orkney to pungent blues like Strathdon and Dunsyre, the tangy goats' cheese of Ailsa Craig to the creamy brie of Howgate. We'll also talk about food and wine matching more generally, and you'll pick up some really good tips to take away and practice at home.
We'll try 7 different cheese and wine combinations, and while they will vary a bit from tasting to tasting, will include at least some of the following:
- Howgate Brie with Champagne
- Arran Cheddar with South African Cabernet Sauvignon
- Strathdon Blue with Sauternes
- Dunsyre Blue and LBV Port
- Ailsa Craig goats' cheese with Sancerre
- Smoked Dunlop with Alsace Gewurztraminer
- Caboc and Chablis
