Coronavirus

[Updated 18/09/20]

We’re delighted to announce our plans to reopen the wine school on the 1st August.

After this long closure we are incredibly excited at the prospect of welcoming you back to our events. We have heard from so many people who have missed being able to visit, and we have missed seeing you just as much!
Our focus now is on ensuring that we have the right measures in place to offer the safest, most enjoyable experience possible when we open our doors, all in line with the latest government and sector advice.

What we’re doing to keep you safe

• Our venue has hand sanitizer stations and floor markings throughout, and is operating a one-way system to avoid any unnecessary contact between guests. Staff will be wearing face coverings as appropriate, and there is an increased hygiene protocol in place for all areas of the hotel.
• 1m+ social distancing is being practiced, as we’ve moved all our events into the hotel’s massive (and beautiful!) ground floor ballroom.
• Gloves and hand sanitizer are available for those who may wish to use them, and we also have masks for anyone who would feel more comfortable wearing one. We stress though that no PPE is mandatory or expected at our events.
• Tasting samples will be poured and distributed by the tutor running the event, who is also equipped with PPE that will be used when coming into close proximity with you.
• Our class size is restricted to 16 people, and we can't take any individual bookings for more than 6 people from 2 households.
• We will be participating in the government’s ‘Track and Trace’ system, and so your details may be passed on if required.
• We have done a full risk assessment and have safety measures in place to cover everything you might be concerned about, from glass hygiene to food preparation and running the event on the day. It has been a learning curve to get to this point for sure, but we are taking this new world order really seriously and want to assure you when coming to one of our events, that you’re in safe hands!

What you can do

• We’re no longer able to provide spittoons (although on past experience we’re not envisaging this to cause much of a problem!), so if you would prefer to spit out your wine samples please bring something with you – an empty paper coffee cup or similar would be perfect.
• Please do respect social distancing, and adhere to all the usual advice regarding washing hands, coughing etiquette etc that has been widely circulated.
• If you’re feeling at all unwell, please don’t attend the event. We can transfer your booking to a new date, free of charge.
• If you have any specific concerns or requirements then please do get in touch with us ahead of the event – we will absolutely do our best to cater for you.
• Book with confidence, and enjoy yourselves! While the look of our events has certainly changed, the feel has not! We’re here to carry on running fun and informal tastings and can’t wait for you to get involved.

Amendments to bookings

• If you're suffering from covid symptoms or needing to self-isolate then we’re temporarily relaxing our T&Cs to allow for last minute changes to your circumstances. You can now cancel your booking and change to a new date anytime before the event. You must however let us know in advance of the course – ‘no shows’ will unfortunately not be able to be amended. In all other circumstances our policy for amendments remains unchanged.  Our policy for refunds also remains unchanged, you can see our standard T&Cs here
• Gift vouchers that were due to expire during the lock down period can be extended. Please email us for more details.

We must also acknowledge that it has been a challenging time for the wine school, as it has for the whole hospitality industry. Your support over our closure has been hugely appreciated, and we feel so privileged and lucky to have such an amazing array of people crossing our threshold! Your help is needed now more than ever, so when you’re ready to return, we are here and waiting, and with some really great wine to boot!
